No less than 28 people have been confirmed dead in a suicide bombing which occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, today, October 23, 2015.

The explosion occurred at about 5:00am in a mosque in the Jiddari Polo area of the state capital.
“We counted 28 dead bodies,” a member of the civilian vigilante, Umar Sani, told AFP.

Another local vigilante member, who chose to remain anonymous, had earlier said that the explosion was the work of a male suicide bomber.
“So far, we have evacuated 18 bodies to the hospital alongside many injured ones that are almost lifeless,” the source said.
“It was a lone male suicide bomber even though we all heard two explosions”, he added.
The bombing is believed to be the work of Boko Haram, which has terrorized the North East with an insurgency that has left thousands dead and many more homeless.
